“KEEPING HOTELS COMPLIANT, CONTROLLED AND ON TRACK.”

Based in our Glasgow office, Danielle McInroy is an Assistant Finance Manager in AAB’s Hotel Accounting Team, where she supports hotel clients with accurate reporting, robust financial control and dependable month-end processes. Her role varies from week to week depending on reporting deadlines and operational needs, but typically involves preparing and reviewing management accounts, reconciling balance sheets and overseeing month-end close.

Having studied accountancy at university and started her post-graduation career within a hospitality business, Danielle quickly realised that the hotel sector was where she felt most comfortable and enjoyable. After gaining experience across different industries, she made a conscious decision to return to hospitality finance, bringing with her broader commercial insight and a clear commitment to supporting hotel businesses with financial information they can trust.

STRONG RELATIONSHIPS, BETTER OUTCOMES

“I believe strong client relationships are built on regular, open communication. From the outset, I prioritise frequent calls and, wherever possible, face-to-face meetings. Hotels operate in fast-paced environments, and I find that taking the time to understand how a business really works makes a huge difference to the quality of support I can provide. Clients know they can pick up the phone to me, ask questions and get clear, practical answers without feeling overwhelmed by jargon.”

SEEING THE BIGGER PICTURE

“Some of the strongest client relationships I’ve built have come from spending time understanding the operational side of a hotel, not just the financials. Hotels face unique pressures – from seasonal fluctuations to staffing challenges – and I make a point of tailoring my approach accordingly. By recognising these realities and communicating proactively around deadlines and expectations, I help clients feel supported rather than chased, even during busy reporting periods.”

ALWAYS A POSITIVE APPROACH

“One of the biggest challenges I’ve overcome in my career has been managing multiple deadlines during peak reporting periods while maintaining accuracy. I addressed this by strengthening my time management, introducing clear processes and using detailed checklists to keep everything on track. This experience shaped how I work today. Clients benefit from a structured, organised approach that reduces last-minute issues and ensures deadlines are met without sacrificing quality or control.”

ADDING VALUE THROUGH EXPERIENCE

“With over ten years’ experience in finance across multiple industries, I bring a broad perspective to my role. I’m highly organised, detail-focused and calm under pressure. These strengths allow me to manage high transaction volumes and complex reconciliations while keeping reporting clear and accurate. Clients value my reliability and my ability to translate financial information into something meaningful and useful for decision-making.”

BEING PART OF AAB

“Being part of AAB means working within a genuinely collaborative environment. Within the Hotels Accounting Team and the wider firm, there’s a shared focus on delivering high-quality outcomes while continuously improving how we work. Clients benefit from this collective expertise, knowing they have access to a team that supports one another and strives for consistency, accuracy and best practice.

PRECISION, PROCESS AND PERSPECTIVE

“One common misconception is that accountants all do the same thing – particularly when it comes to tax. In reality, hotel accounting is a specialist discipline that demands focused expertise, strong controls and a deep understanding of how hospitality businesses operate.

My role is centred on control, reporting and compliance.  By keeping reporting accurate and timely, I enable hotel owners and finance teams to trust their numbers, reduce risk and focus their attention on running and growing their business with confidence.”

LOOKING AHEAD

“I’m particularly interested in how AI and automation will shape the future of accounting. Used well, these tools can improve efficiency, strengthen controls and free up time to focus on value-added work for clients. Developing my skills in this area is an important part of how I continue to improve the service I provide.”

TRUSTED SUPPORT, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

“Ultimately, what matters most to me is helping clients feel confident in their numbers. Clear, accurate financial information makes better decisions possible and removes unnecessary stress. By combining strong relationships, proven processes and a calm, practical approach, I aim to be a dependable partner for hotel businesses – today and as they continue to grow.”
