ESG Diligence: The Key To Sustainable M&A Transactions
AAB / Our Team / Claire King
Meet the Audit & Assurance team
Owner-managed businesses. Small and medium-sized limited companies.
Audit, accounting and business advisory services. Audit compliance. Identifying improvements to clients’ processes. Day-to-day support.
Not for Profit. Technology. Manufacturing. Construction & Property.
Claire King is an Audit Senior Manager at AAB. She provides audit, accounting, and business advisory services mainly to owner-managed businesses, as well as some Not for Profit organisations.
For the most part, Claire helps clients to meet their compliance requirements within their statutory or internal deadlines. Importantly though, she also uses the process to identify improvements to clients’ systems and processes, thereby providing significant added value.
Alongside this, Claire provides key general advisory and day to day support for Accounts clients. Working with companies across a wide variety of industries, Claire is also a member of our dedicated Tech sector team.
“My ideal relationship with a client would be one that is open to regular contact as this allows us to be able to identify opportunities to support at all stages of the business cycle with sufficient planning time to maximise efficiencies.
Clients who have values aligned with our own are also ideal as they have a deeper understanding of our working practices.”
“Audit clients expect that I will provide a quality service and the technical solutions required to meet their needs. Non-audit clients require support through day-to-day business decisions and a more general advisory support.”
“It is satisfying to invest time getting to know and understand a client and then be in a superb position to assist them on their journey and growth. I have a genuine interest in learning about the processes and products that our client’s develop.”
“In terms of working with colleagues, our team in Leeds are an amazing bunch, brimming with technical expertise but with a great sense of fun and good spirit. There is a vast range of support available with constant opportunities to grow. It’s really satisfying seeing team members develop over time, as well as getting to enjoy those opportunities myself.”
“We have supported many of our clients to transition to cloud-based accountancy software which enables much more timely information to aid decision-making. This, along with face-to-face meetings and discussions, creates a perfect balance of using modern and traditional techniques for an optimal outcome.”
“Clients often see an audit as a burden and want it out of the way as quickly as possible. In reality, our team has a great amount of knowledge and expertise around business processes and can offer a lot of value around system improvements, identifying and mitigating risk areas and general accounting advice. It is important that we communicate this value to clients in a timely manner.”
“There is a lot to look forward to in the future of AAB – it’s exciting to see our services and expertise expand, and it’s great to be able to pass these on to our clients.
I’m also excited about being able to shape and develop newer members of team. Seeing new trainees come through starting their journey with us and passing down knowledge is a fantastic opportunity. I am also keen to see how technology will adapt to create more efficiencies in our working environment.”
“’Nothing is more important than our people’ – this is a key value to AAB and starts from the very beginning with our recruitment process for graduates. We involve all levels of the team in the process which works well on both sides and enables us to recruit people who we know will get on with us and our clients. We offer a supportive environment to the team with buddies, mentors and coaches and provide technical support at all levels to ensure team members thrive.”
“The greatest strengths that I bring to AAB is that I have a positive attitude and bring that to how I support and mentor the wider team. I consider myself an excellent team player and love working with others.”
“I think a lot of people think of accountants as just dealing with numbers and maths problems whereas our work mainly revolves around providing people with advisory services and developing strong relationships.”
