“Behind the numbers are people, businesses and real impact.”

Based in our Dublin office, Brian is an Audit Partner who combines technical expertise with a proactive and personable approach. He works closely with partners and technical specialists across the firm to maintain high standards, share knowledge and continuously enhance delivery for clients. With experience across a wide range of sectors and organisations of varying sizes, Brian brings a practical and balanced perspective to both client work and internal leadership.

From graduate to partner

“I joined the firm as a graduate and was fortunate to work with partners who involved me early and gave me real exposure to clients and responsibility from the outset. That trust accelerated my development and shaped how I approach leadership now.

Progression in audit doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from being given context, being brought into conversations and being encouraged to form your own view. Now, I try to create those same opportunities for others. Bringing managers into discussions, sharing the thinking behind decisions and encouraging them to step forward builds confidence over time. People develop best when they feel trusted and supported.”

Understanding the business behind the audit

“No two audits are the same because no two businesses are the same. You can’t understand an organisation by sitting at a desk reviewing a file. You need to spend time with clients, listen to how they operate and understand what’s driving their decisions.

When you build that understanding throughout the year, the audit runs more smoothly, and the advice becomes more relevant. Clients don’t just want technical accuracy; they want clarity and practicality. I try not to overcomplicate things. There’s a lot of technical change in our world, but clear communication and staying accessible make a real difference.

Some of the most rewarding moments are when a client brings a complex issue and, after working through it properly, you can come back with a clear answer that gives them confidence in their next step.”

Clarity in complex situations

“One of my strengths is bringing structure to situations that can feel technical or uncertain. Audit can seem heavy from the outside, but if you break it down into manageable parts, it becomes far more straightforward.

That applies whether it’s a reporting challenge, a regulatory change or an internal technical question. I try to be consistent and steady in how I approach issues, focusing on the facts, applying the standards properly and explaining the reasoning clearly. That balance between technical rigour and practical communication is important, both for clients and for the team.”

Strength through scale

“AAB gives us access to broader expertise, stronger systems and greater depth of resources. That support allows us to focus more of our time where it matters, with clients and with the team.

At the same time, what hasn’t changed is the personal approach. Relationships remain central. The scale brings opportunity, but the mindset around service and standards stays consistent.”

Keeping pace with change

“Our environment doesn’t stand still. Accounting standards evolve, regulations change, and technology continues to develop, sometimes quickly.

The challenge is not just staying up to date, but applying change in a way that strengthens quality and efficiency without compromising standards. The tools we use may evolve, but the responsibility doesn’t. Clients rely on us for judgment, consistency and integrity, and that remains constant.”
