Patrick Young aged 12, nephew of AAB Partner James Pirrie and sponsored by AAB, has had a very successful first half of the year with his tennis. He has represented the North of Scotland in both 12 and under and 14 and under County Cup a national team competition where the team managed to come second in 12s in the Scotland and North of England event. Patrick has also represented the North East at Kilgraston School in Perthshire in another team competition.

Recently Patrick has won both 12 and 14 and under titles in the City of Aberdeen tournament held at Westburn in the first week of the school holidays, he also came runner up in the 14s doubles with his partner Cameron Edward of Cults.

Last week at the Giffnock open, a grade 3 competition, Patrick reached the quarter finals of the 14 and under competition beating 2 highly rated boys whom he had been unsuccessful against in the past, one of which was the third seed, both boys older than Patrick. Patrick then went on to win the 12 and under title at Giffnock beating Aberdeen’s Ross Martin 7-6, 6-2 in the final, coming back from 4-1 down in the first set!

Patrick has also begun playing for the mens teams at Stonehaven tennis club setting a record for the youngest ever team member, playing in the B team who are top of their league, he also won a box league at the club made up of adults and 16 yr old players.
