Charity Service Breakfast Event

Guests joined us for a breakfast event in collaboration with Anderson Strathern, where our experts delivered top tips to ensure that guests had all they needed to know about safeguarding and reserves planning for leading organisations.

Guests heard from Victoria Simpson (Director and Head of Charities, Anderson Strathern) with some practical tips for safeguarding procedures:

  • Legal and regulatory duties within safeguarding
  • Keeping staff and volunteers safe
  • Reputational elements to safeguarding 
  • Promoting good practice
  • Working safely in partnership with others 

Elaine Parr (Senior Manager and Head of Charity Services Team, AAB) explained how a reserves policy is an essential internal tool for financial management and goes far beyond annual reporting:

  • What are reserves and how do they differ from funds? 
  • Factors to consider in setting a reserves policy 
  • The importance of regular review of reserves’ policy and levels 
  • Considering reserves levels when assessing going concern 
  • Reporting on reserves in the Trustees’ Annual Report
